Around here we looove to celebrate our b-days! Especially when we do it in our place, with those ones that we love.
And I have so much fun spending time planning the decoration, the menu, drinks, activities and the playlist that will make this time even more fun!
Differently from the year before, when we had to celebrate Abmar‘s b-day just by ourselves because of COVID, this year we had the privilege of having most of our friends vaccinated so we could throw a small b-day party (Yay!).
So right after we came back from Aruba, that was the thing that we focused on and you will see some of the steps that we took to plan it.
Before the b-day
Guest list
The first thing was deciding how many people we would invite. Then, about 2 weeks before the day of the party, we sent the invitation to our friends through Whatsapp.

Food and drinks
The next step was to think about FOOD and drinks, of course. So the first thing that I did was to call Deep Sea Sugar & Salt, our favorite cake shop in Seattle by far, and order one of their delicious cakes: vanilla bean custard (Abmar loves vanilla).
After picking the cake, we made a list of what else we would serve. As we were a bit short on time (we had just arrived from Aruba and had a pretty busy week at work) we decided to go easy with ourselves: have a simple hot dog bar with chips. We got everything that we need from Amazon Fresh. Besides the traditional hotdogs we also served plant based hotdogs (they are my favorite), a variety of buns, and to make it more Brazilian, we served a variety of toppings: corn, peas, pickles, shoestring potatoes and a bunch of different sauces. To serve the hot dogs we had paper biodegradable hot dog tray. You can see more ideas on my Pinterest.
For sweets we made cannoli and of course the famous Brazilian b-day dessert: brigadeiro. For drinks we had sparkling and red wine, and beer.

The party space
After checking the weather for the week and realizing that it wouldn’t be rainy (which is always a possibility in Seattle), we decided that we could use our deck to enjoy the warm temperatures, watch the sunset and use the grill.

Tip: Make sure that everything in the space where you’ll host the party is clean so your guests will feel even more welcome and comfortable.
On the day

Decor
As we hosted the party at our rooftop deck, we didn’t have to worry much about the decor, because we already have so much green around our house, the view of the Olympic mountains on one side, and the Mt Rainier on the other, and, then, later in the day, a great sunset. So I just set some balloons from Champion Party Supply, a b-day banner (that we re-used from another b-day party we had hosted), set out some plants and arrangements and used the sweets and the cake to help assemble the decor.

We spent a beautiful and sunny Thursday afternoon listening to music, having good food and booze and having great conversations with our friends.
